Statement from the Denver Regional Nurses Association on the Death of Registered Nurse Alex Pretti

Jan 26th, 2026

DENVER, CO The Denver Regional Nurses Association (DRNA) is deeply saddened by the death of registered nurse Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Alex’s loved ones, colleagues, and the nursing community.

The loss of a nurse is a profound tragedy for our profession. Nurses dedicate their lives to healing and advocacy, and violence in any form threatens the safety and well-being of those who serve their communities.

We recognize the grief and distress this loss brings to nurses everywhere. In this moment, we echo the call for nurses to support one another and seek peer or professional support as needed. Our well-being is essential to our ability to care for others.

DRNA joins national nursing organizations in calling for a complete and transparent investigation, with findings shared promptly. We remain committed to advocating for safe environments for nurses and honoring the life and service of Alex Pretti.
